Last year over 700 people volunteered with Peabody to make a difference in their communities. For that, we say thank you for everything you do.

Volunteers are at the heart of our work at Peabody. Last year, over 700 people volunteered their time to help out with one of our community activities. Our generous volunteers phoned up neighbours who were self-isolating, delivered food parcels, helped to collect and deliver medicines… their energy was boundless and their generosity helped us to reach many more vulnerable people in the community.

Celebrating National Volunteers Week

Since the start of the pandemic, our volunteers have played a key role in our response to Covid-19 and have helped to ensure that our most vulnerable residents have been supported. During an exceptionally difficult year, our volunteers from all walks of life have taken the time to make a huge difference – just as they do every year.

Our Volunteers Services Manager, Sarah Feleppa, offers her thanks:
"Without our volunteers, we simply couldn’t offer the breadth and number of community activities that we do. This is also why we’re so committed to supporting and empowering our volunteers to develop their skills and achieve their ambitions. If you've ever thought about volunteering, don’t wait! There's something for everyone."

Get involved

We offer lots of volunteering opportunities throughout the year. As a Peabody volunteer, you will:

  • Get work experience: whether you want valuable work experience, are looking for a career change or would like to boost your CV, we’ve got a volunteering role for you.
  • Make new connections: meeting new people is not only enriching, it can be life-changing! Throughout the pandemic we have been connecting residents, volunteers and the wider community whether in person, over the phone or online. There have been hundreds of connections and friendships made.
  • Lead a community project: if you’ve got an idea for a community project, we can help you bring it to life! As well as helping you to plan your project, we can also offer a grant of up to £500 to make it happen.
  • Get training: all the volunteers can access training to ensure that they not only excel in their role but are safe at all times.
