Winterproofing your home
As autumn settles in, it's time to start preparing your outdoor space for the cold months ahead.

Here are some simple ways to make sure your home and outdoor spaces are ready for winter.
Check your gutters
Leaves can clog gutters and cause water to overflow, which may lead to damp, mould or wall damage. Clearing them regularly helps prevent problems. If you notice cracks, damage or blockages, let us know and we’ll get them sorted.
Protect outdoor furniture
Winter can be harsh on cushions, parasols and ornaments. If you have space, storing them indoors helps prevent damage and makes spring easier.
Clear fallen leaves
Leaves on paths can be slippery. Our estate teams clear communal paths, but sweeping your own space helps prevent slips.
Store items safely
If you have a balcony, don’t use it to store flammable or bulky items, including wooden or plastic sheds. Small metal cabinets may be an option, but please check with us before setting it up.
To keep everyone safe, fires and naked flames aren’t allowed on balconies or in communal areas. This includes barbecues, chimineas, fire pits and candles. Stay cosy, but keep it safe!
Help local wildlife
Winter can be tough for wildlife, but you could give them a helping hand. Set up bird feeders or build a hedgehog shelter in your outdoor space to provide a safe spot for local wildlife in the cold.
