Jane* was due to move into a new home with us, but issues with the condition of the property meant the move couldn’t go ahead.

She has two children and lives with mental health challenges. She had no support in place and was finding it difficult to manage the situation alone.

How we supported Jane

  • We gave advice on mental health and made a referral for support
  • We applied to the Resident Support Fund for carpets, beds and white goods
  • We provided settling-in support, including a helpful reference book for her new home
  • We referred Jane for help with rent arrears and money worries

Other support arranged

  • We spoke with our colleagues in collections to help with Jane’s arrears
  • We applied to the BBC grants fund to help cover the cost of carpets
  • We referred Jane to iCope for counselling support

Jane said: “I’d like to take a moment to thank Najma for her amazing support throughout my case. From the start, she’s been caring, kind and understanding.

"Najma helped me understand my finances and gave me tips on organising my daily life using my phone calendar. She also sent me a letter with all the key information about my flat, which I’ve kept for future reference. It’s a great idea – now I can easily check things like my move-in date.

"I’m really grateful for the help with white goods too – it’s made such a difference.

"Thank you, Najma, for always being there.”
