Sometimes described as sheltered housing or retirement housing, our homes for the over-50s have a 24-hour emergency alarm system and on-site staff providing support.

Common features may include a shared lounge, shared laundry facilities, guest suite, computer rooms, mobility scooter storage.

Our older residents can also benefit from the many services we offer — from social activities and community events to daycare programmes and befriending schemes.

Antilles House (Acton) consists of 50 one bedroom flats and two, two bedroom apartments. Some have been specially adapted for wheelchair users.

Location

The scheme is located in a quiet residential road and has its own well-kept communal garden. The nearest train station is Acton Mainline with links to Paddington. Local buses 260 and 266 run regularly nearby.

Evelyn Fox Court is in north Kensington. It has 33 self-contained flats, each with a kitchen, lounge, bedroom and bathroom. There are also two studio flats. Some of the flats have walk-in showers.

The Court is in a quiet residential road. There are a small number of local shops and several bus routes nearby. There are also two underground stations within walking distance.

Hopley House

Hopley House is in west Ealing and has 21 flats and a communal lounge. Each flat has a kitchen, lounge, bedroom and bath or shower room. Hopley House also has a beautiful garden.

Location

Hopley House is close to the shops and local amenities in a quiet residential area, directly behind Ealing magistrates’ court.

There is a Housing Support Manager available on site or by mobile phone for 17.5 hours a week who is responsible for the day-to-day management and supervision of Hopley House and for monitoring residents’ wellbeing. Out of hours an alarm call service deals with any emergencies.

Melody Court is an attractive sheltered scheme development in Chiswick. There are 40 one bedroom flats and some have been specifically adapted for wheelchair use.

Location

Peter Lyell Court

Peter Lyell Court is a two-storey sheltered housing property in the London Borough of Hillingdon. The Court has 36 one bedroom flats, each with a kitchen, lounge, double bedroom and shower or bath room.

Sahaara Court

Wood Court is situated in a quiet residential road, just off Burnt Oak Broadway in Edgware. It is well served by public transport with a number of bus routes nearby and the northern line (Burnt Oak station) a ten minute walk away.

Asantewa House

Asantewa House is a three-storey sheltered housing property in Reading. It has been designed to offer modern, comfortable, affordable sheltered housing within easy access of the town.

Oak Tree House is a extra care sheltered housing scheme designed exclusively for people over 55. There are 60 modern one and two bedroom apartments arranged around a central courtyard.

Location

Oak Tree House is part of the Dee Park regeneration scheme in Reading.

The scheme was officially opened on 8 March 2012 by HRH The Duke of Kent KG.

Services

The scheme offers care and support for residents with a range of needs – from those who are active and have few or no care needs to those requiring 24-hour care and support. Onsite care and support services are provided by Radis Community Care.

Furnace House opened in 2008. It has 38 flats arranged on four floors with a mix of one and two bedrooms. Some flats have balconies.

Location

Furnace House is situated in the heart of Jericho, close to the Eagle Works estate and near the junction of Walton Street/Walton Well Road.

The flats are convenient for local shops, the Jericho health centre and the open spaces and riverside walks of Port Meadow.

There are excellent transport links. There is a bus stop just 100 yards away. Bus 17 runs every hour to Oxford via Cutteslowe and Summertown.

Potters Court

Potters Court is a modern red-brick building specifically designed for older people. Residents will be assessed as having an extra care need but not dependent enough to need nursing care.

Location

As well as being located in a quiet, residential corner of the Great Leys estate, the building also has spacious communal grounds and residents’ parking. Oxford city centre is three miles away and there is a bus stop nearby.

Services

There is onsite accommodation for the care team who are available 24/7 and there is sheltered housing support cover during office hours. Outside duty hours there is an alarm call service to deal with emergencies. There is a special transport system that operates a door-drop service for a small fee.

  • Twice monthly the council runs a bus to the local library.
  • The tea group meets daily in the lounge and there are regular bingo sessions.
