Supported living

Our Care and Support team has been successful in winning a floating support contract covering the whole of Essex.

The new contract began at the beginning of April 2019 and run for seven years. It will support an average of 18,000 customers per year.

The service, commissioned by Essex County Council, offers short-term support to families and adults across Essex who might be experiencing issues which are having an impact on their housing, health or finances.

The local authority has recognised that challenges - such as the increasing cost of privately rented housing and welfare reforms - are creating an environment where housing-related support services are crucial.

The services' main remit is to help prevent homelessness. It will offer customers support in sustaining their tenancies: from providing information, advice and guidance to longer-term support for around six months.
