Peabody in the news

Creek Road and Silchester were among this year's winners.

The Brick Awards celebrate the best examples of clay brick in our built environment, attracting over 300 entries each year from leading architects, housebuilders, developers and contractors.

Creek Road (above) is a new Peabody development in maritime Greenwich with 83 homes and 1,800 sqm of commercial space. It was designed by architects BPTW.

It has been built using two exceptional quality bricks: Ibstock’s 'Funton Old Chelsea Yellow' and TBS’s 'Mystique'. It also used a variety of delicate brick-laying techniques.

Creek Road won the 'Architect's Choice' category at this year's Brick Awards. It was also shortlisted in the 'Large Housing Development' category.

Silchester (above), in Kensington and Chelsea, won the Urban Regeneration category at the Awards.

The judges found the scheme "very sensitive, subtle and well considered. It feels robust and classic and is expected to age well. There are a number of unusual brick details, which cleverly break up the façade".

They also felt that Silchester brings "human scale and sensitivity" to the streets around Latimer Road. You can learn more about Silchester here.
