Empowering residents to manage and improve their health and wellbeing.
We have today published a new report 'Health at Home'. The report was launched at a conference attended by experts from across the health and housing sector which considered how we can work together to deliver better community-based solutions.

'Health at Home' is based on research with some of our general needs residents aged 50 and over who were selected at random. We focused on helping them to improve their understanding and confidence around managing their own health. We also signposted them to other services where necessary, including repairs and financial advice.
We found our involvement was highly effective at giving some of those residents the confidence and knowledge to manage and improve their health. This effect continued for at least nine months after the three-month support trial ended.
This report shows how housing associations can play an important role in empowering residents to stay healthy and also demonstrated the value of a person-centred approach. By treating our customers as the experts in their own health, we have been able to co-design a support programme to bring out their strengths. We will continue to integrate this approach into our services.
