Great turnout at our jobs fair
Over 1,000 people attended our recent jobs and apprenticeships fair.
The fair, which was held at our Pembury Community Centre in Hackney, was organised to help people from across London get a foot on the career ladder.
Attendees had the chance to meet potential employers from a range of industries, from construction and engineering to media and advertising. And with 40 different employers at the event – including Group M, Bauer Media, Crossrail MTR and Great Ormond Street Hospital – there was a huge variety of jobs and apprenticeships on offer.
Freddie Singh went along to the event. He told us: "I'm here because it's an opportunity for me to look for a career. I've just finished my level 1 carpentry qualification so if I could get a level two apprenticeship with one of the construction firms that would be excellent". We later found out that Freddie was offered an apprenticeship by one of the construction firms he met that day.
Bauer Media, one of the employers who attended, said: "A huge thank you for inviting us, it was by far one of the best community events we’ve attended this year. We engaged with over 50 young people on the day and signed up a significant number of potential learners for our vacancies".
Gallal Muflahi, Apprenticeship Coordinator at Peabody, said: "This was our biggest apprenticeship fair yet."
Our next jobs and apprenticeships fair will take place in March 2019 during National Apprenticeship Week.
