Follow in Claire's successful footsteps

Claire, a single mother of two lovely children was looking for something more in her life. She was career driven - having over 10-years’ experience supporting people into employment - but felt something was missing.

Claire decided to volunteer her time at one of Peabody’s community centres. While volunteering, she met Ashley Elliott, Peabody Community Development Worker.

After hearing Claire’s story, Ashley introduced her to the Peabody Enterprise Programme which supports entrepreneurs to develop their own community-focussed businesses.

Things clicked immediately for Claire, she decided that she would quit her job and put her skills to good use by opening her own venture, focussing on employment support and connecting people in the community.

EntrepreneursClaire’s organisation, Central Community Impact (CCI) is based in the heart of Westminster on the door steps of our Horseferry Road residents. So far, she has helped over 20 people into employment, including a man in his 50’s returning to work after a 15-year career break.

Claire said: ‘‘Sometimes all we need is a little encouragement and perhaps someone else to see hope within us. I have a quote on my desk to remind myself how lucky I am that Peabody gave me this opportunity. “Doing what you like is freedom and liking what you do is happiness”.

Taking the next step
