Peabody Hill new play area and gym

We've been working with the London Marathon Charitable Trust to revamp a disused play space which now has new junior play areas and an outdoor gym.

The new facilities for local residents were officially opened on 28 May. We invested £200,000 in the scheme with an additional £60,000 from the London Marathon Charitable Trust.

The event was well attended with residents from our Peabody Hill and Rosendale Road estates in Lambeth enjoying the two new play areas and outdoor gym.

The play areas include an enclosed area with a large sand pit, digger and slide for infants, and a larger open area with a tree house, netted course, swings and large slide for older children. The outdoor gym includes spinning bike, cross trainer chest press and leg/bench press to help residents keep fit.

Members of the Tenants’ Association, local councillors, Anna Birley and Max Deckers Dowber, and Bryony Livesey, from the London Marathon Charitable Trust, also attended the grand opening.

The play space had been disused for several years and the residents were keen to see this developed. The play equipment and outdoor gym were chosen after consultation with residents, taking in to account the age range and needs of the children on the estate.
