Proposed merger: Peabody and Family Mosaic

  • Who are Family Mosaic?
    Family Mosaic has around 26,000 homes for rent, operating in London and the South East. They are a charitable community benefit society, just like Peabody.

    They provide affordable homes to rent and buy as well as services to around 8,000 people who need extra support. Family Mosaic's housebuilding programme will deliver thousands of new homes in London by 2018.

  • What would the new organisation be called?
    The Group will be known as Peabody, although the Family Mosaic name may remain for a while longer.

  • Who made the decision to merge?
    No final decision has been made. The Boards of both organisations have agreed this should go ahead, subject to the views of our residents and a number of further steps over the coming months.

  • When would the merger happen?
    We expect the merger to legally complete around July 2017, but this could be subject to change as there is lots of work to do before the merger could be legally completed.

  • Will residents be consulted?
    Yes. We are very keen to listen to your views about the proposed merger and about the future priorities for services and changes should the merger go ahead. From today until Friday 3 February 2017, you have the opportunity to comment and to tell us what you think about the proposal.

    Each organisation's Board will take the views of their residents into account when deciding whether or not to formally complete the merger.

  • Do I need to do anything?
    No. You don’t need to do anything, unless you would like to give us your views about our proposal to merge.

  • Will there be any change to my tenancy, lease agreement or my rent?
    Your tenancy or lease agreement would remain the same and so would the way that your rent is set and all your rights and responsibilities.

  • What does the proposed merger mean for Peabody residents?
    We wrote to Peabody residents in November to let them know that Peabody is now a community benefit society. Your landlord would not change as a result of the merger.

    In time, we would like to merge all of the landlords in to Peabody. This process may take some time and we will make sure Peabody residents are fully informed about, and consulted on, any changes to the proposals.

  • What does this mean for CBHA residents?
    We are currently in the final stages of merging CBHA into Peabody and CBHA tenants and leaseholders will be notified when that has completed, which is likely to be around February 2017.

  • What does this mean for Gallions residents?
    The proposal to merge Gallions into Peabody has been deferred, but it is still our aim to merge Gallions in to Peabody. This process may take some time and we will make sure Gallions residents are fully informed about, and consulted on, any changes to the proposals.

  • What does this mean for your employees and the people who provide services to me?
    There would be no immediate change to the services you receive or the people who provide them to you.
