Southwark's newest music festival
This year's Mint Street Music Festival will be taking place between 12 noon and 7pm on Saturday 18 July.
The festival, which attracted an audience of all ages last year, will offer arts and crafts by local residents, sing 'n' sign, food stalls, and bouncy castles.
There will be two stages. One stage will feature an eclectic mix of sounds from Afrobeat to Latin and rock'n'roll. The other, funded by £1,000 from The Peabody Community Fund (see image below), will give local residents the chance to get on stage and wow the audience with their talent.
Peabody’s Chief Executive, Stephen Howlett, said: "The Mint Street Festival is a remarkable festival which brings the whole community together and Peabody is proud to be supporting it this year.
"The festival reflects what The Peabody Community Fund is all about, making sure Londoners receive all the support they need to build thriving communities with health and wellbeing of our residents being paramount. It is a unique opportunity for those who work in our communities to access funding for their chosen project or activity."
Sonal Shah, Chief Executive Officer, The London Community Foundation said: "We are delighted that Peabody has set up its community fund for the benefit of its residents across London. Our aim at The London Community Foundation is to make it easier for communities to bring about positive social change."
Hannah Metcalfe, Mint Street Music Festival Founder said: "Thanks to The Peabody Community Fund we can extend the opportunity to perform at Mint Street Music Festival to Peabody residents and the wider community. We're delighted to have this chance to enjoy and share the musical talents of local people."
