Peabody in the news

The US-UK Fulbright Commission has announced a call for applications for its 2016-17 Scholar Awards.

The Fulbright–Peabody Research Award will be offered to one UK postdoctoral researcher to pursue a research project of your own devising, for a period of 3-12 months in the United States.

Fulbright will consider all disciplines and fields of study, but they will give preference to research proposals that will significantly add to the body of knowledge on the following subjects in the UK:

  • Impact on participation
  • Employment levels
  • Income
  • Child poverty
  • Debt
  • Family structure

$5,000 per month award and more

The Peabody Award provides $5,000 per month.

Successful grantees will also receive a number of memberships; sickness and accident benefit cover; and visa sponsorship. There is substantial support before travelling to the States, including a Finalists’ Workshop in March 2016 and a 2-day Orientation Programme in July 2016.

Once you are established in the US, further support will be offered by the Council for the International Exchange of Scholars (CIES), including additional travel grant opportunities to accept guest lecturing invitations at other US institutions.

After the grant period as a "Fulbrighter," you will have access to the Commission's US-UK alumni network and will be given the opportunity to attend a range of social and cultural events in the UK.

Applications for the 2016-17 awards competition will be open until 6 November 2015.
