Local residents and businesses to benefit

Thirty-nine jobs were pledged at Thamesmead’s first ever Business Networking event which took place at The Link Thamesmead last week.

The day was managed by the Bexley Skills and Employment Partnership (BSEP), a group of local organisations, including Peabody, working to ensure personal, social and economic success of residents and businesses.

Businesses had the chance to meet other like-minded companies and find out more about the support local employment and training service providers offer to residents, how they can help businesses recruit the right candidates and support BSEP’s aim to increase employment and skills across the borough.

The day also gave businesses the opportunity to hear from organisations including Peabody’s Thamesmead Strategy Group regarding the regeneration of the area, and tesco.com who spoke of BSEP's support in recruiting hundreds of new staff.

There was also a speech from an apprentice who secured a placement through Resources Plus, who highlighted the benefits of employing apprentices.

“It was fantastic to see so many businesses come together under the roof of Peabody’s pioneering community space, The Link Thamesmead," said our Chief Executive, Stephen Howlett. "The regeneration happening in the area is second to none, and the opportunities available to businesses and residents reflect this.”
