Diane Abbott MP presents awards at Hackney project
Marking the start of an exhibition featuring work created by a group of girls from our Hackney project, Threads.
The girls, aged 14–16, followed in the footsteps of British designers Stella McCartney and Vivienne Westwood by holding a fashion show at a recent exhibition launch.
The Style Young Exhibition showcases the work created during a three-month project managed by the London College of Fashion.

In front of an audience of friends, family and local teachers, the Threads girls received an award from Diane Abbott MP, in recognition of their work.
The Hackney North and Stoke Newington MP said: “I'm keen to explore more opportunities in fashion for people in Hackney. It is also important to understand that it's not all about fashion — it's about skills like pattern-making and this project is really important for improving access.”
