We hosted an event recently to celebrate the completion of 588 new homes at Fish Island Village in Hackney Wick, our joint venture with housebuilder, Hill.

The development includes 146 affordable homes (72 rented and 74 shared ownership) and 57,000 sq. ft of commercial spaces. Social enterprise, The Trampery, is establishing a new campus for fashion and creative start-ups with dedicated studio space, manufacturing facilities and social spaces at Fish Island Village.

The event was attended by representatives from Peabody, Hill and The Trampery, alongside our project team of architects and consultants. We also welcomed Cllr Rachel Blake, Deputy Mayor of Tower Hamlets, who said: “Fish Island Village is a fantastic example of a joint venture project between established housebuilders to create new homes and a vibrant community in a previously undeveloped area in London. It’s been great to welcome all the new residents to the Borough who will contribute to the local economy.”

Ian McDermott Peabody’s Chief Executive said: “Fish Island Village is the perfect example of what can happen when a housing association and a housebuilder come together to form something very special. We have created high-quality city homes in an attractive location alongside the waterways where residents are well connected to the rest of London.”

Andy Hill, group chief executive of the Hill Group, said: “Today sees the culmination of over 10 years work and I couldn’t be prouder of what we have achieved with our partners, Peabody. Together we have transformed what was once draughty industrial warehouses into this unique development, creating a vibrant new space for people to live, work and relax. It is a pleasure to welcome Cllr Blake and so many of our stakeholders and residents to celebrate this achievement.”
