Peabody’s mission is to make London a city of opportunity for all by ensuring as many people as possible have a good home, a real sense of purpose and a strong feeling of belonging. Our community programmes play an integral part in turning our mission into reality. This year, we’re proud to have supported 1,112 volunteers who have made a real difference by helping people to make the most of their lives.


Our approach to working in our communities is fundamentally about combating poverty by empowering people to lead happier and more fulfilling lives. We believe that people have the power to create the change they want to see – in their lives, in their communities, and in society.

Our Volunteers Programme is central to providing opportunities for people in our communities to get the most out of their lives, not only for residents, but for our volunteers too. There are many factors negatively affecting those we work with and we need to make sure we address their needs and help them to the best of our ability.

How we make a difference

Our award-winning volunteers programme is led by volunteers who are based across London, in our offices, community centres and on our estates.

We have been reaccredited with the quality kitemark, Investing in Volunteers in 2016-2017, making us the biggest housing provider in London to achieve this accolade. The accreditation means that we have demonstrated excellence when recruiting and managing volunteers.
