Anti-social behaviour
Anti-social behaviour (ASB) can range from noisy neighbours to serious harassment. While it is not reasonable to expect complete peace and quiet at all times, Peabody believes that people are entitled to live on our estates free from nuisance and harassment and we take any complaints of such behaviour seriously.
Examples of nuisance behaviour include:
- playing loud music
- using DIY tools at anti-social hours
- banging and slamming doors
- allowing dogs to bark continuously
- dumping rubbish
- breaking shared security systems
It also includes harassment, when someone deliberately intimidates, frightens or is aggressive to another person.
The nuisance can be can be against an individual or a group - the person causing the disturbance may not be aware that they are annoying others.
ASB can include disagreements between individuals (usually neighbours) and can start over something small and grow into major differences.
Everyone has the right to live and work without fear of harm or abuse. Our policy on anti-social behaviour protects both residents and staff – and we keep a record of anyone who may pose a risk to staff and contractors.
We may take legal action which could lead to the offender losing their home. We will report any criminal act to the police.
You can report anti-social behaviour online through Tell Peabody or contact Peabody Direct. You should also report any violent incidents to the police on 0300 123 1212 or call 999 in an emergency.
