Parking and permits

There are clearly marked parking spaces on estates, either individually numbered or for common use. Residents can use these provided they have a parking permit, available from Peabody for a weekly charge. We also have garages for rent. Unauthorised vehicles are subject to clamping. Vehicles include cars, vans, mopeds and motorbikes.

Vehicles parked on Peabody estates must clearly display a valid permit, an up-to-date tax disc and, if applicable, a valid local authority disabled badge. They must be roadworthy and not cause a health and safety risk or public nuisance. Residents must not carry out repairs to any vehicle on Peabody land that could cause a nuisance or damage property. If you want to park a vehicle other than a car, such as a van, caravan, lorry, trailer or boat, you need written permission from your neighbourhood manager.

Anybody in your household can apply for space as long as you do not owe Peabody any money. If you get into arrears with your rent or with your parking bay or garage account, you will lose your permit.

Disabled drivers with a valid orange or blue disabled badge from the council are entitled to a free space or bay. Disabled residents go to the top of the waiting list when they apply.

Visitors also need permission to park on our estates. Visitors' permits are available at £10 for 10 passes and any resident can apply for them, even if you don't have a parking permit or garage. Visitors who park without a permit risk having their vehicle clamped or removed.

Residents' and visitors' permits are available from neighbourhood manager or by contacting Peabody Direct. There is always a high demand for these spaces, but you will be added to the waiting list and offered a space when your name gets to the top.

Peabody has a parking and sub-units policy (pdf, 165KB) which sets out our approach to providing parking bays and spaces and garages to residents in conjunction with our parking contractor, London Parking Control.

Parking permits for 2010 have been extended until 31 March 2010 - find out when to apply for the new permits.
