Reduce, reuse and recycle waste
Business and consumers need to consume more efficiently to generate less waste. We need to reuse and recycle more of it avoid it being sent to landfills/incinerators.
We will:
- identify how we can reduce what we consume through our business activities and reduce consumption;
- work with our partners in the waste sector to increase what we reuse and recycle;
- maximise opportunities for reuse and recycling on our estates and engage residents about local services available.
We:
- have increased the proportion of office waste that has been recycled, saving approximately 900 trees per year;
- work closely in partnership with our contractors to monitor waste generated through our new build and refurbishment programmes. About 80% of non hazardous waste is reused or recycled from our refurbishment programmes.
