Sustainability strategy

Buying more sustainability

To ensure that we purchase the lowest impact products and services, as well as delivering value for money to our customers, we will review the product specifications across our business regularly and support staff to buy more sustainably.

Our aim is to buy products and services that:

  • have a low impact on the environment in how they are produced and perform in our homes and offices;
  • stand the test of time; and
  • can be easily reused or recycled.

A few things we have been doing:

  • We believe other window products are more sustainable in their production and disposal. Peabody does not generally use PVCu windows in our refurbishment programmes.

  • Our DECENT programme valued highly in the environmental performance of the preferred kitchen manufacturer and their products. The manufacturer has an Environmental Management System in place and their kitchens have a high recycled content. The non-recycled content is sourced from managed forestry sources (FSC). The kitchens are also modular in design so they can be easily repaired without the need to replace whole units.

  •  We measure the environmental performance of all businesses that we work with and set minimum standards in terms of environmental performance.
