Estate improvements
With almost 6,000 properties built before 1900, and over 2,000 of those built before 1875, we have a targeted programme of substantial investment in our homes.
We plan to spend around £400 million on our stock between 2008 and 2017. We are on course to meet the government's 2010 deadline for all social housing to be brought up to a decent standard and are going beyond that standard to ensure we meet our longer-term investment needs.
Our major estate improvement programmes are:
- Decent - internal improvements to bring homes up to the Decent Homes standard
- Sound - a planned programme of repairs and redecoration to the outside of our buildings and internal communal areas
- Improve - upgrading door entry systems and open spaces
Improving life on our estates is about more than bricks and mortar and we are also developing our digital TV programme to ensure that all our estates are ready for the digital switchover in 2012.
