Solar panels: help us reverse the Government's decision to cut funding

21 November 2011

We initially planned to install solar panels on as many of our Peabody properties as possible.

The cost of installation and on-going maintenance was to have been met by the Government’s ‘Clean Energy Cashback Scheme’, also known as the Feed-in-Tariff (FiT).

The Government originally offered the Feed-in-Tariff until April 2012. However on 31 October we were told the deadline was being brought forward to 12 December 2011.

We worked extremely hard to complete as many installations as possible in the time available, but the ruling currently means we aren't able to complete our original programme.

We are urging the Government to look again at the decision.

We have written to Greg Barker (Minister of State for Energy and Climate Change) to voice our concerns on the proposed changes.

We have sent out a briefing to our London MPs which outlines the impact these changes will have on Peabody, and more importantly on our residents. The briefing calls for the changes to be discussed in Parliament and with Ministers, before the consultation closes on 23 December.

We have already had one MP raise the issue in the House of Commons and we need your help to keep the pressure on.

We are asking you to download the letter below (please remove the notes in capital letters), add your details and send it to your local MP.

If enough people do this, we can make a difference.

Here's the letter template.
