Lifeguard training taster sessions
Darwin Court is also holding lifeguard training taster sessions in August from 10am-4pm.
The two taster sessions, consisting of both dry and wet elements, will hold a maximum of 12 people* per session.
If you are looking to join then you need to be a competent swimmer who can swim at least two lengths. You must also arrange your own transport to the venue.
The closing date for registration is Friday 31 July.

Cockney Sparrow
With the help of London Wildlife Trust, Peabody is launching Cockney Sparrow, a community project to create havens for London wildlife, including the Sparrow, on selected Peabody estates. The launch will take place on:
1 August - Kings Cross Estate
9 August - Whitechapel Estate
15 August - Pembury Estate
The project will involve Peabody residents and their neighbourhoods, including nearby schools and community groups, in wildlife-themed activities to raise awareness of their local environment. Participants will be given the opportunity to help improve and maintain habitats for sparrows and other wildlife on Peabody estates.
Activities will include:

planting hedgerow species such as hawthorn and blackthorn to create the ideal, bustle-friendly bird habitat

planting grasses and flowers to attract the protein-rich aphids, caterpillars and weevils that nestlings love to feed on
-
community workshops to make roosting boxes for a host of species including bats, swifts and house martins as well as sparrows
-
visits to wildlife reserves and green spaces in London
-
training to record birds and wildlife on estates
Tennis for Tots
Activate London will hold the Tennis for Tots programme throughout the summer. This will be at various locations including Pembury, Marshalsea, Tachbrook and Ebury.

Picnic in the Park
Bring your food, blanket and families for fun in the English summer and meet other Peabody residents.
