New apprenticeship to develop tomorrow's housing officers

08 March 2010

The government is set to introduce a new housing apprenticeship from autumn 2010, to the benefit of housing organisations and those interested in working in the sector.

The apprenticeship is being introduced by Asset Skills, the Sector Skills Council for housing. Supported by the Chartered Institute of Housing, it incorporates two of the Chartered Institute’s qualifications. The apprenticeship aims to help people develop careers as housing officers – and 16-19 year-olds will see their training costs fully met by the government.

The new level 3 advanced apprenticeship – which is equivalent to A levels – is available in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. It was launched at the Gateway Centre in Southwark on 3 February.

More information is available on the Asset Skills website.
