New affordable housing and improvements at Elmwood Court

13 April 2012

We are currently working on plans for a residential housing development on part of our estate at Elmwood Court on Battersea Park Road in Wandsworth.

Our proposals are for a new block on the site where we currently have some car parking. The intention is to restore the original Victorian line of the street and provide new retail or community space onto the pavement with new affordable housing for local people above this – and with no loss of parking overall.

As part of the plans, we also intend to improve the entrance to the sheltered block at Elmwood Court, with a new lighter and brighter glazed foyer extending to the pavement line. In addition, we are also looking to make access into Elmwood Court safer from Battersea Park Road by bringing the access gate further back so  vehicles will no longer overhang the carriageway.

We're aiming to submit our application to the local planning authority by the end of April 2012, and welcome any feedback from the local community before this time.

Peabody is one of the oldest and largest housing associations in London. We own and manage over 20,000 homes in the capital, operating a range of tenures including social housing, shared ownership, leasehold, and key-worker housing.

We are committed to building and developing good quality, environmentally sustainable, affordable homes of excellent design.

We always look to engage with local communities and we already have a significant presence in Battersea with our St John’s Hill, Shaftesbury Park, Parktown and Elmwood Court Estates.
