Neighbourhoods host successful King's Cross Community Day

22 November 2011

On 19 November 2011, our Neighbourhoods team hosted and delivered a busy community event for the residents of the King's Cross Estate.

Consultation

The main purpose was to consult our residents on their local priorities and gauge perceptions of services provided in their neighbourhood.

Over 400 Peabody residents attended throughout the day. The friendly fun-filled atmosphere enabled us to complete 143 questionnaires covering a wide range of issues of local importance, including:
  • Residents’ involvement opportunities

  • Repairs

  • Neighbourhood and Estate services

  • Crime and nuisance

  • Community activities

  • Access to our services

  • Satisfaction with services provided by other stakeholders
People at the event

The event was very well received by residents and stakeholders. Some comments are below.

John Warby from Help on your Doorstep:

“We have spoken to lots of residents today and taken lots of referrals, from students to old people, to people with kids, a real mix is here.

"There is something for everyone here, it was well worthwhile our time coming. This kind of event really helps us get our message across, we can let people know there is help here, even if they don’t need it now they can take leaflets and come back."

Camelia from the T-shirt Printing (service provider):

“The day has gone really well; we’ve had a lot of fun. The kids have really enjoyed getting creative with colours, sewing, and designing. We should definitely do this again!”

“It’s been a good day, I’d like to do it again. The engagement of residents and services here is brilliant, and the involvement of wider community services with Peabody is great to see, the doors have been open to everyone. Congratulations on a great day!”
