We've linked up with the London Fire Brigade to offer the Local Intervention Fire Education (LIFE) programme: an intensive five-day course, open to those aged 13-17 who live on our Pembury estate in Hackney.
Participants will be taught by firefighters:
- how to use ladders
- casualty rescue techniques
- how to use breathing equipment
- first-aid equipment
- many aspects of fire safety and fire prevention
The course runs 8-12 October 2012.
If you would like to find out more about this great opportunity, please contact Pembury estate office.
Read what previous participants said about LIFE:
"I think I have become more mature about things. I've learned to follow instructions propertly and help other people out."
Mari, Shadwell LIFE
"I have achieved so much from doing the LIFE course and am now studying for a Public Services National Certificate. I look at life in a completely different way."
Billie, Dagenham LIFE
LIFE has benefited more than 5,000 young people since 2002. We're proud and excited to support the programme, as our Fire Safety and Emergency Planning Manager explains in this London Fire Brigade press release.
