Five top tips for staying warm and well when it's cold

15 January 2010

1. Stay warm at night
If you feel cold at night, use a hot water bottle or electric blanket – but never use both together.

2. Make sure you claim benefits you are entitled to
If you need help finding out whether you are eligible call Peabody Direct on 0800 022 4040 and ask for our financial support team.

3. Eat well
Food is a vital source of energy, which helps to keep your body warm. Try to make sure you and your family have hot meals and drinks regularly throughout the day.

4. Get a seasonal flu jab
You can get a free jab to protect against seasonal flu from your GP if you have a long-term health condition.

5. Look after yourself and others
Remember to wrap up warm if you need to go outside on cold days. If you have an older neighbour or relative, look out for them during winter to make sure they are safe and well.
