Don’t miss out at the Whitecross Street party

20 July 2011

Whitecross Street Party flyerThis year sees Whitecross Street transformed for a two-day street party starting on Saturday 23 July.

At the two-day event there will be an open air gallery, art workshops, ‘pop up’ entertainment from local community groups, street processions, arts and crafts market and food stalls. The array of activities will include jewellery making, live painting, free massage tasters and gardening.

Over the course of the weekend live music will be played by local musicians and anyone tapping their feet can join in on the dancing. A variety of buskers will turn up at different points along the street and entrain for up to one hour at a time. Find out more about the list of artists performing here.

Children can also take part in the fun as there will be lots to keep them entertained from sports games, football, bouncy castles, face painting, stencilling and much more.

For six weeks, beginning 11 July to 19 August, the street will host the 'Rise of the Non-conformists' exhibition, transforming the whole of Whitecross Street into a giant canvas with the work of 30 top artists displayed on local buildings – giving London a free outdoor gallery summer experience.
