CORGI replaced by new gas safety body

20 March 2009

From the 1 April 2009 CORGI will be replaced by the Gas Safe Register, as the official gas safety body.

All of Peabody's gas contractors will be registered to the new body.

If residents want to check whether an engineer is registered with Gas Safe Register, then they should ask to see their card. All registered engineers have an ID card with their licence number and a photograph. The licence number is easily verified on the Gas Safe website: https://www.gassaferegister.co.uk/ or tel: 0800 408 5500 and confirmation of the engineer’s name will be given.

The health and safety executive, responsible for regulating gas safety in Great Britain, will oversee Gas Safe Register. The new register will provide enhanced levels of service and clearly written rules of registration.

If you have any questions about the new scheme, visit the Gas Safe Register website: https://www.gassaferegister.co.uk/ConsumerInformation.aspx or speak to the Peabody gas servicing team, tel: 0207 021 4610.
