Christopher Strickland appointed chair of Peabody

04 January 2010

Peabody has announced the appointment of Christopher Strickland as its new chair.

Chris, a Peabody board member since 2003, takes over from Pam Alexander who finished her term as chair at the end of December.

A past president of the British Council for Offices and member of the board of British Property Federation, Chris is a chartered engineer and chief executive of commercial property development company Core. For the past five years he has been chair of Peabody’s property committee.

Chris said, ‘I am honoured to accept the position of chair and very much look forward to the opportunities and challenges the coming years will present.

‘I intend to build on the progress made by Pam Alexander and Peabody’s chief executive, Stephen Howlett, over the last five years, which has seen Peabody go from strength to strength. We have been awarded the strongest possible rating for financial viability by the Tenant Services Authority and have just launched an ambitious new vision for social housing communities in the 21st century.'
