Older people in Tower Hamlets are invited to celebrate LinkAge Plus Older People's Day at St Matthias Community Centre on Thursday 1 October.
The day’s theme is 'bringing people together'. It will celebrate the contribution older people make to our communities, tackle stereotypes and exclusion, and provide advice about opportunities.
Activities on offer will include:
- line dancing
- arts classes
- games
- complimentary holistic massage sessions
- much more.
Information stalls will provide advice on subjects ranging from social services to tai-chi.
LinkAge Plus Manager Rachael Childs said, 'LinkAge Plus Older People's Day will be a celebration of the achievements and aspirations of older people and their contribution to our society.
'We want all older people to know that LinkAge Plus offers support and recognises their concerns. We welcome all older people in the community to attend and partake in the festivities.'

Link Age Plus is an initiative to promote the health and well-being of older people in Tower Hamlets. Funded by the Department of Work and Pensions, it is delivered by five community centres in Tower Hamlets, including Peabody's Sundial Centre, which oversees the initiative. The other community centres are Age Concern Tower Hamlets, St Hildas East Community Centre, Toynbee Hall and Neighbours in Poplar.
