Are you aged between 13-19 years and interested in taking pictures and telling a story through the lens of a camera? If so, now is your opportunity to show off your skills and win a prize*.
Black History Month is a month where we celebrate the achievements of black people, following their history and culture.
To mark this memorable occasion we are asking young people, from all of our homes/estates, to get involved and take pictures, based on any theme you choose to do with Black History month.
The winning photo will be published on our website.
What you need to do
To take part in the competition you can either take pictures with your own camera or you can collect a disposable camera from your youth worker.
You will need to take up to eight photos (based on your theme) and then return the disposable camera back to your youth worker to develop the pictures.
The deadline to submit all your photos is 5pm, Wednesday 28 October.
*First prize is a digital camera; second prize is a £20 voucher and third prize is a £10 voucher.
How to enter
Submit your disposable camera or personal photos you have taken (and printed from your own digital camera) to your youth worker. Make sure to include your:
- name
- age
- youth club or estate you are from
- contact details
The winner will be chosen and announced on the Peabody website.

The main youth clubs involved and where you can get further information is from one of the following estates; Leander, Peabody Hill and Pembury. Alternatively you can speak to your youth worker or neighbourhood manager.
Note: if you take part in the competition you must make sure you are available to attend Abbey Community Centre on 3 November (pm) in the event you win a prize.
