Applications are open for jobs on the 2011 census

26 November 2010

The next census takes place on 27 March 2011 – and it’ll generate over 35,000 jobs across England and Wales.

The benefits of working on the census include flexible working hours, valuable experience that you can put on your CV and the chance to help develop your community. The information collected in the census helps central and local governments make key decisions about policies, planning, services and funding for local communities.

What jobs can I apply for?

There’s a range of jobs you can apply for, from supervisory roles to general collectors. And with Hammersmith & Fulham council alone looking for around 120 recruits, there are plenty of opportunities. Contract periods range from four weeks to 10 months. The deadlines for applications vary – but many positions require applications in December, so don’t delay.

You can search the jobs available by borough on the Census Jobs website.
