Pembury Circus is in the running for both a national regeneration award as well as a London place-making award.
Judges of the Planning and Placemaking awards aim to showcase and reward the best projects, plans, people and organisations that are making places better, and winners will be announced at an awards ceremony in London on 29 June 2016.
Pembury Circus was designed by Fraser Brown MacKenna Architects to be a peaceful place to live with an emphasis on community-building.
The mixed-use development also includes a brand new community centre which contains a new café, meeting rooms and a flexible space for the use of community groups and residents of all ages.
A vision fulfilled
Dale Meredith, Executive Director for Development and Sales at Peabody said:
"We are very proud to be shortlisted for this award.
This scheme has helped us fulfil our vision of creating a welcoming estate which includes new homes to rent and buy and a comprehensive programme of support for residents and the wider community."
Simon Fraser, Director at Fraser Brown MacKenna Architects said:
"We are delighted to have had the opportunity to design a regeneration project that has contributed to such a significant transformation of the Pembury Estate, both through the high percentage of affordable homes as well as the new community infrastructure that includes the fantastic community centre.
"Place-making at Pembury Circus involved replacing a dated and unloved space with a development which connects into the surrounding streets and makes a positive contribution to the townscape."
We are always interested in new land, acquisition and development opportunities in London.Contact the development team
