Peabody in the news

More than 45 local children took part in a recent swimming gala.

Local schoolchildren competed at our swimming gala at Darwin Court in Southwark recently. Over 45 of them, aged between six and 12, took part in the gala, coming from six schools across South London. Parents and teachers came along too to cheer them on.

Zahed Abedipour, Peabody's Swimming Services Manager, organised the event. He said: "I'm really pleased with how the school swimming gala went. Once again we have been able to provide a fun, safe environment for the children to enjoy swimming in.

"There were a lot of smiles and a lot of excitement. There really was a very excitable atmosphere. Swimming is a vital life skill and a great form of exercise, so it was wonderful to see so many children at the gala."

The gala promoted a healthy lifestyle and sporting activity in a fun and inclusive way. As part of Peabody’s wider commitment to community wellbeing, Darwin Court is also currently providing swimming lessons for ten schools in Southwark and is running a swimming academy over the summer holidays.
