Get set for the Thamesmead 5k and Family One Mile
The second ever Thamesmead 5k run takes place on Saturday 24 September – and now’s the time to sign up, get training and help raise money for charity.
The run, managed by Now’s the Time Thamesmead, will raise funds for the Bexley and Greenwich Community Hospice who offer specialist palliative care for residents in both Bexley and Greenwich boroughs.

Last year’s event was a huge success, with more than 90 runners taking part and £400 raised for the charity.
This year’s race will start at 10am from Thamesmead’s leading sport and leisure venue, Sporting Club Thamesmead in Bayliss Avenue, with participants running through Crossway Park and Southmere Park along the stunning backdrop of Southmere Lake before returning to Sporting Club Thamesmead.
Family One Mile race
The event also includes a Family One Mile race open to people of any age and ability to run, jog or walk. Participants will receive a medal and goody bag on the day.

The 5k and Family One Mile are being hosted by Now’s The Time Thamesmead, a three-year partnership project funded by Peabody, Sport England’s Community Sport Activation Fund, London Borough of Bexley and Royal Borough of Greenwich, supported by Charlton Athletic Community Trust.

Now's the Time Thamesmead
Now’s the Time offers activities in Thamesmead for just £1 per session from a number of venues across Thamesmead, including Sporting Club Thamesmead. Together they offer a number of sports and leisure activities for both participants and spectators. Sporting Club Thamesmead also offers spaces for hire, from 3G pitches to function rooms.
