'Topping out' at Devons Road
The first phase of a project to provide 528 new homes in Bow is a step closer, and there's been a ceremony on site to mark the latest construction milestone.
Based at the Bow Enterprise Business Park on Devons Road, the development is being delivered in four phases, and will also provide 53,000 sqm of commercial space.

Peabody is delivering 259 mixed-tenure homes in Phase 1 (due for completion in October 2015) including 59 for social rent, 40 for shared ownership and 160 private sale homes. This first phase also includes eight commercial units, as well as a communal landscaped court yard and play areas throughout, providing space for formal and informal play.More about Devons Road
The 'topping out' ceremony
Representatives from Peabody and the London Borough of Tower Hamlets, including Deputy Mayor Cllr Sirajul Islam, joined main contractor Galliford Try and site owner Workspace, at an event to celebrate reaching a key stage in the construction.
"We are excited to reach this important milestone at a flagship scheme for us in Tower Hamlets, which will deliver much needed new homes to rent and buy, business opportunities and fantastic open spaces," Peabody Chief Executive Stephen Howlett said.
"Regeneration projects such as Devons Road are a key part of our development programme. Working with our partners we hope to use this location to create and enhance a diverse and sustainable community within the borough."

"Devons Road is a very good scheme and the result of a valued partnership with Peabody, Workspace and Galliford Try. This site has been developed with families in mind and it’s clear that the new homes are of a very high standard. I hope the new residents enjoy their new homes and the great open spaces on offer."

Peabody has a development pipeline of over 8,000 new homes, around 1,300 of which are in Tower Hamlets. It recently acquired Phase 2 of the Bow Enterprise Park redevelopment, which will see a further 160 mixed-tenure homes built by the summer of 2017. The partnership with Galliford Try continues on the St Clements regeneration scheme in Bow, which is the first urban Community Land Trust, providing up to 250 new homes in existing and new buildings, jobs and opportunities for local people.
