Ageing Society: The role of housing providers
We hosted a roundtable event last Friday, examining ways to enable London’s older residents to access housing and other support services.
There was agreement that housing providers could do more to speak with one voice on certain issues. For example, the quality of private companies' care and support.
The importance of integrating housing, health and social care was noted. There were calls for improved joint-working between housing associations, local councils and healthcare authorities, to share the costs and benefits of investment in services.
A range of housing, research, and policy professionals attended
Also explored was the potential for organisations to collaborate in areas such as research.
Ideas raised in the discussion will be used to inform our ongoing research to identify our older residents' needs. This will form part of a review of our older people's services.
