Elvis' Kitchen
Peabody has launched a new campaign to educate residents and the public on how to cook nutritious, low cost tasty food.
Elvis’ Kitchen is a 12 part series of online cookery programmes. Each programme aims to entertain and educate viewers on basic cooking techniques, where to buy fresh low cost local ingredients and good hygiene practice. There is a recipe for everybody’s taste- ranging from hearty carrot and orange soup to tasty jerk chicken or sweet banana bread.
The series features the charismatic Elvis Campbell, one of Peabody’s resident caretakers and cooking enthusiast who fronts the cookery programmes. Cooking has always been an important part of Elvis's life - he believes delicious food that's good for you too doesn't have to be complicated. His motto is simple - "Enjoy". Elvis will show you how fun, cheap and easy it can be to create healthy meals in your own kitchen.
Visit www.elvisrecipes.com to watch and download the cookery programmes and recipes. You can register your details on the website and share your own favourite recipes and cookery tips with other online users.
The online cooking programmes are supported by a DVD and recipe cards which will be distributed to all Peabody residents via door drops and Peabody’s big green Well-being Wagon, a dedicated healthy living bus which visits Peabody estates across London.
