Well Met
Volunteer befrienders
for companionship and well-being

Well Met

Well Met is a free befriending scheme for over-55s in Wandsworth. It matches older people in the area with volunteer ‘befrienders’, who can offer companionship and help with everyday living.

Volunteers on the programme visit residents in their homes once a week and offer advice on various aspects of healthy living. The scheme aims to support independent living by helping people to maintain physical and psychological health and well-being.

Getting involved
As well as being personally rewarding, volunteering can offer useful experience to anyone interested in health promotion. Our befrienders are given comprehensive training on issues ranging from boundaries and confidentiality to mental health and disability.

The scheme is available until 2011. It is run by Peabody in partnership with Wandsworth Primary Care Trust.
