Six images of building designs and sketches

Six architectural practices have been chosen.

Peabody architectural competition

We've selected the six architectural practices who will form our Small Projects Panel and work with us on developing smaller schemes across London.

They are:

Not selected but highly commended for excellent submissions:

“We interviewed 20 practices this month and were privileged to encounter such a talented and committed group of architects," says Claire Bennie, Peabody Development Director. "It was always going to be very difficult to choose our final six practices who are going to work with us on small schemes over the next four years. We believe that we have chosen a panel which is balanced in terms of experience, size and style. Together we will build beautiful homes.”

Small Projects Panel: The rationale behind the final decision

Architectural competition background

We launched a competition to put together a panel of smaller architectural practices to design Peabody housing schemes of 20 homes or fewer.

Why did we do this?

We believe the lengthy and onerous bidding processes typical of many procurement processes shut out emerging, innovative practices. We wanted to change that, by giving smaller practices (those who may not meet the minimum criteria in OJEU procurement guidelines) an opportunity to work with us.

"Smaller practices write to me all the time about how hard they find it bidding OJEU schemes. What Peabody are doing sounds like a good idea."
Angela Brady, RIBA president 2011–13

Media coverage

The competition attracted media interest from organisations including The Guardian, Architects' Journal, and Building Design
