Tenant transfer

Transferring to a new home
Peabody has a transfer scheme for our residents who wish to move because their current home is no longer suitable for their needs. You can apply for a transfer if you meet the following conditions:

  • you have no outstanding debt to Peabody (except for housing benefit paid in arrears)
  • Peabody is not taking legal action against you

We do not have enough properties to help everyone who applies, so we use a banding system which gives priority to those who need rehousing most urgently. Within each band, priority is given to applicants who have been waiting the longest. We won’t be able to tell you exactly how long it will take before we can rehouse you, but we can give you an idea how long you can expect to wait.

If you or a member of your household has a medical condition that you would like us to consider when assessing your application, you should complete a medical questionnaire, making sure that you answer all the quessions that apply to you and the people you want us to rehouse with you. You can apply for a transfer online using our selections, choice-based letting system.

Do you need to move for work?
Peabody is piloting a London wide scheme called G15 London moves from May 2011. The scheme will help G15* social housing tenants living in London, already on a transfer waiting list, the chance to move home for employment or training opportunities.

This scheme gives you the chance for a move, while keeping terms similar to your current tenancy.
