Allocating properties

How new-build homebuy homes are allocated
You only need to fill in one application form to gain access to all the different housing associations. Waiting lists for shared ownership homes are kept by HomeBuy agents. There are two in London, Metropolitan Home Ownership and Tower Homes.  Anyone can apply to join those waiting lists and the Homebuy agent decides whether you are eligible or not.

Peabody prioritise applications as follows:

A - Council and housing association tenants who live in the borough in which the scheme is being developed, and who will move out of their social housing when they buy.

B - Key workers working in the borough.

C - Applicants registered on their council's housing waiting list.

D - Key workers who live in the borough but work elsewhere.

E - Applicants renting privately in the borough who are not registered on their council's waiting list.

F - Other applicants on Housing Options' waiting list.

The size of accomodation will generally be offered as follows:

  • single applicants - studio/one bed
  • joint applicants - one or two beds
  • couples or single parent families with one child - two beds
  • couples or single parent families with two children – three beds
