Literacy Bookworm

Activities: As a Bookworm, you will meet families and assist at the literacy sessions through arts & crafts, storytelling and other fun activities. You will also deliver outreach in communities to promote the importance of reading and assist the Project Coordinator with recording families’ progress.

Requirements: You should be punctual & reliable with the ability to be understanding and sensitive as well as being confident in reading and writing. Show an interest in working with young children and have good organisational skills, commitment to work with three families and have a willingness to learn.

Location: Peabody Estates within Hackney, Chingford & Thamesmead 

Hours: Volunteers will be required for a minimum of 1 day (3 hours) a week for a 6 week period. Hours are flexible and negotiable to suit the volunteer and the projects. Each Book Club session will last two hours and the volunteer will dedicate at least this plus preparation and monitoring/reporting time per week.

Net Worx IT Tutors

Our Community Investment Team is looking for IT Tutors to work with older people who are interested in learning computer and internet skills.

Activities: This role involves helping older people and other service users/ learners to find out about IT services within their community. You will provide information about the project in the community, organise events and take part in forums that will help promote the project. You will also plan and run training workshops to older people.

Requirements: Be organised, punctual, friendly, basic IT skills, approachable and patient, with good listening skills, a willingness to learn, an ability to respect others and respect confidentiality.

Location: Various locations across Peabody
Hours: Volunteers will be required for up to 3 hours a week for one day a week. The placement will require a minimum commitment of 12 weeks.

Hours: Volunteers will be required for a minimum of 2 days a week. The placement will last for 3 months. Hours are flexible and negotiable to suit the volunteer.

Volunteer Outreach Assistant

Our Community Development Team is looking for someone who is proactive to support their Community Development Outreach Team.

Activities: This role involves helping staff with outreach prior to door knocking, supporting residents to complete registration forms on the doorstep as well as supporting the outreach team with administrative tasks such as excel worksheets, database, research social mapping and call backs to residents.

Requirements: Be organised, punctual, friendly, basic IT skills, approachable and patient, with good listening skills, good telephone skills and a willingness to learn, an awareness of the difficulties faced by those who are socially isolated and vulnerable and/or have special needs.

Location: 116 – 118 Walworth Road, London SE17 1JY

Hours: Volunteers will be required for 1-2 days a week between 10am – 3pm. The placement could be for a minimum of 3 months. Hours are flexible in agreement with team.

Wardens Team Support Assistant

Our Community Safety Team is looking for a proactive admin assistant to support their warden’s team.

Activities: This role involves volunteering with the Wardens team. As a volunteer you will be involved in the administrative work that goes on behind the scenes and be trained on the internal processes and procedures. You will work closely with the Wardens Team Leader. 

Requirements: Be organised, punctual, friendly, basic IT skills, approachable and patient, good listening skills, good telephone skills and a willingness to learn.

Location: Peabody Office, Walworth Road, 116 -118 Walworth Road, London SE17 1JL

Hours: You will be required for 3 days a week between 9am till 5pm. The placement will last for a minimum of 3 months but can be extended to 6 months by agreement with manager and volunteer.

Transfer Specialist

Our Community Safety Team is looking for a proactive admin assistant to support their warden’s team.

Activities: You will engage with residents who have low to medium support needs to register on multiple external systems and effectively communicate process to resident whilst empowering them to take necessary actions where appropriate. You will also be required to manage multiple cases simultaneously using SMART planning to schedule tasks as well as general befriending and emotional support of clients who might be facing one or more of the following issues: Mental health problems, difficulties with family responsibilities, isolation due to age, disability, ill health and language or literacy barriers.

Requirements: Each Transfer Specialist will need to demonstrate the following attributes;

  • The ability to communicate effectively on the telephone, in person as well as in written correspondence, a commitment to maintaining professional boundaries when working with people who are disadvantaged due to their medical related and vulnerable needs.
  • A commitment to helping households takes control of their own transfer requirements.
  • Display a friendly professional attitude as well as a patient approach at all times.
  • Ability to prioritise own workload, lone work and organise oneself.

Location: 116 – 118 Walworth Road, London SE17 1JY

Hours:  Volunteers will be required for 2 days a week for 4-7 hours each day. The placement will last for a minimum of 6 months. Hours are flexible and negotiable to suit the volunteer.

Volunteer Housing Assistant

Our Community Safety Team is looking for a proactive admin assistant to support their warden’s team.

Activities: This role involves volunteering within the Neighbourhood Services Team. As a volunteer you will be engaging with residents with varying support needs. You will have an opportunity to learn more about estate management, resident involvement, health & safety and day to day services undertaken by neighbourhood managers.

Requirements: Good IT Skills including ability to use Word, Excel and Outlook, have a willingness to learn new skills and a commitment to working as part of a team. Support the team with general work such as mail outs to residents and preparation for tenancy audits, walkabouts and health & safety inspections, minute taking, good written and spoken English, good organisational skills and a good telephone manner and be punctual and reliable.

Community Safety and Support Assistant

Our Community Safety Team is looking for a proactive admin assistant to support their warden's team.

Activities: This role involves volunteering within the Community Safety & Support Team. As a volunteer you will be involved in the administration work that goes on behind the scenes and be trained on the internal processes and procedures.  You will work closely with the Community Safety Administrator (CSA).  You will also have the opportunity to engage with residents with varying support needs and have the opportunity to visits some of Peabody's estates.
 
Requirements: Basic knowledge of social housing, Be organised, punctual, friendly, basic IT skills, approachable and patient, with good listening skills, good telephone skills and a willingness to learn.

Activities Coordinator

Our Community Investment Team are looking for someone who is confident, has a 'Can Do' attitude and is full of enthusiasm to enable residents to lead a full social life.

Department: Community Investment

Activities: You will be supporting Peabody staff with the daily activities and events at the centre and assisting with the running and organising of events, activities and outings. You will also be assisting older people with activities or events, developing good working relationships, consulting and motivating our clients. Assisting and developing skills in obtaining small grants for events, activities and outings. Helping to set up and put away equipment and materials. Performing Risk Assessments and completing paperwork; recording, advertising and promoting activities. You may also be required to attend outings with social groups.

Requirements: An enthusiastic and creative individual to work as an Activities Coordinator in our sheltered scheme for the older people. The right individual will enjoy working with people over 60 years old and enjoy the challenge of finding new and innovative ways to enrich and motivate our clients.

Location: Leander Court, SE8

Hours:
 You will be required for 2 days a week between 10am – 4pm. The placement will last for 3 months. Hours are flexible and negotiable to suit the volunteer.

Volunteer Support Assistant

Our Community Investment team is looking for a Volunteer Support Assistant to support their Volunteers team.

Activities: You will be dealing with incoming enquiries from new and existing volunteers and taking messages for the Volunteer Coordinator. You will also be required to checking the email inbox for new enquiries and responding appropriately. You will assist in matching new volunteers with appropriate roles and occasionally liaising with colleagues to research new available roles. General office admin duties including filing, photocopying, scanning, envelope-stuffing. Occasionally you will be helping with the word-processing of documents using Microsoft Word.

Requirements: Good IT Skills including ability to use Word, Excel and Outlook, have a willingness to learn new skills and a commitment to working as part of a team. Good verbal communication skills to communicate effectively with internal and external customers. Good written and spoken English, good organisational skills and a good telephone manner and be punctual and reliable.

Hours: Volunteers will be required for 2 days a week between 10am  –  4pm. These days are flexible and will be discussed with the Volunteer Coordinator. The placement will last for 3 months initially and possibly renewed after this time.

Our Asset Compliance Team is looking for two Volunteer Administration Assistants to support their team.

Activities: You will be required to assist the team in an administrative role transferring documentation to the central document sharing system, which will be readily accessible to the company. The main tasks will be scanning of documents, labelling the electronic files correctly and accurately and loading the files into the system.

Requirements: Good IT Skills, have a willingness to learn new skills and a commitment to working as part of a team. Good written and spoken English, good organisational skills and attention to detail and be punctual and reliable.
