"The support I’ve received has helped me to realise that I have the confidence to achieve a lot of things."

Rashida has always been certain about one thing — she wants to make a difference.

Rashida made such a good impression that within a month she was employed as a support officer, going out to estates and meeting residents.

Volunteering benefits

"I found that I really enjoyed talking to people about their problems and helping to solve them," she says. "I always thought I’d be a social worker and somehow help people who are most in need.

I had never even considered housing, but then my friend told me about Peabody and the good things they’re doing in the community."

Within a year Rashida had been promoted to a managerial role, and is one of 16 who have reaped the volunteering benefits and successfully gained employment at Peabody since 2010.

"I found something that I enjoy doing and in a way it’s almost like social work, helping vulnerable people. Now I want to do my Masters in Housing and Planning and that’s all because of Peabody.

"The support I’ve received has helped me to realise that I have the confidence to achieve a lot of things."

We have lots of volunteer opportunities, whether you're looking for office experience or you want to get involved in the community.
