Volunteering opportunities in London: work with us to gain confidence, meet new people and improve your skills!

Our Volunteering Programme is spread across London, providing support in communities, on our estates and in our offices.

Register to be a volunteer

Volunteers work alongside staff to provide key services to residents and other Londoners. Each of our community centres, for example, has a resident-led management committee, staffed by volunteers, who may organise exercise classes, hire out rooms, organise events and look after the centres.

Training, support and recognition

In 2012 Peabody were the first London housing association to be awarded an Investing in Volunteers accreditation, which recognises the excellent work we do.

Personal development of our volunteers is very important to us, and we always ensure you are fully supported and get access to ongoing training. You are always reimbursed for travel and lunch expenses.

We provide written references and help with finding work through our employment service.

Appreciating our volunteers

Once a year we hold a Volunteer Awards event, a celebration and acknowledgement of the achievements of the many volunteers who work with us.

Investing in volunteering

We also have an employee volunteer programme – the "Peabody Promise" – which gives staff 14 hours' paid time off a year to help with community projects.

We have a strong history of involving volunteers in our work. We have more than 300 volunteers at Peabody – about 100 are residents – and we value the contributions that they make to our communities and offices across London.
