How to do business with us
Supplier selection is subject to European Union (EU) procurement directives. Application to our approved list can be made directly through sponsorship by a Peabody officer. The officer is the first point of contact and provides the necessary documentation and other qualifying material required for inclusion on the list.
Where contract values exceed the monetary thresholds set by the EU procurement directives for goods, works and services, supplier selection is made through advertisement in the Official Journal of the European Union (OJEU), which is updated daily.
Peabody complies with the prescribed procurement routes. The monetary thresholds change from time to time and can be checked on the OGC - EU procurement website.
To ensure value for money, we seek written quotations for all contracts below the EU directive thresholds based on the following:
- goods or services under £25,000: we encourage the use of consortia based on Peabody’s own framework agreements for the purchase of low value items. Where there is no applicable framework, and where practical, we seek written quotations from two or more suppliers on the approved list.
- goods and services between £25,000 and £75,000: written quotations from three suppliers on the approved list
- goods and services between £75,000 and £139,000: written quotations from five suppliers on the approved list
- works contracts under £75,000: written quotations from three suppliers on the approved list
- works contracts between £75,000 and £300,000: written quotations from five suppliers on the approved list
- works contracts between £300,000 and £3,400,000: Peabody adopts a formal tendering process seeking bids from five suppliers on the approved list.
