Single equality policy

Single equality policy
Peabody is committed to promoting equal opportunities and valuing diversity. We aim to make sure that our customers receive services which recognise issues of discrimination as well as celebrating their diversity.

The single equality policy and action plan sets out how we will meet our statutory and regulatory equality and diversity obligations, as well as how we will raise awareness on diversity issues for staff and customers.

We recognise that certain groups and individuals are more likely to be discriminated against. We have a legal duty to protect people from direct and indirect discrimination across the nine protected characteristics set out in the Single Equality Act 2010. These are: age, disability, gender, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion and belief, and sexual orientation. We are committed to zero tolerance and eliminating all forms of unfair discrimination and promoting equality amongst staff and customers.

We also carry out equality impact assessments to make sure that this is taken into account when we make any changes to our policies, processes and services.

If you are committed to raising awareness around diversity issues and want to get involved, Peabody has a resident diversity forum.
